A New Kind of Medicine is Rapidly Emerging: Anti-Aging Medicine
- Dear Viewers/Readers,
- I am so happy to bring you this latest information from the 6th International Conference of Anti-Aging Medicine. In addition to the interviews we taped with some of the leading anti-aging physicians, I have compiled some of the best information from the meeting itself.
- Millions who are striving for youth and longevity are seeking information on Anti-Aging Therapeutics. One in three adults under 50 is now shopping for Anti-Aging products which include better medicine, proper nutrition, vitamin and mineral supplements and Anti-Aging Hormones.
- Anti-Aging Therapy is already helping individuals live longer, better lives. Many new hormonal and nutritional therapies keep arteries unclogged, blood health y and without clots, blood pressure normal, aging bones from breaking, and eyesight and hearing at their peak. My goal is that you shall all have a long life and better health naturally.

- Why Are Hormones Important to Anti-Aging?
In simple terms, hormones are activators of many bodily functions. Hormones function as biological pacemakers, orchestrating the body’s many functions in a delicate and balanced manner. Hormonal messages sent through the bloodstream activate or deactivate many biological processes including sleep and wakefulness. When all systems function properly within our 24-hour cycle we are at our best.
- Hormones are chemical compounds formed by the glands and carried in the blood to other organs and glands. When these hormones reach their target, they stimulate that body part to function more vigorously.
- When hormones are balanced, the body is able to do miraculous things: regenerate new tissue, create an abundance of energy, and defeat itself against disease causing microbes.
- Leaders in Anti-Aging Medicine have concluded that a deficit in the body’s production of hormones is the most probable cause of the growing incidence of premature aging in the general population.
- The primary goal of natural hormone enhancement is peak physical and mental performance. Long-term consumption of synthetic hormones leads to the degradation of all natural systems and reduces the body’s ability to maintain balance and orderby naturally producing its own hormones.
- With lowered production of testosterone, estrogen and DHEA, we get fatter and flabbier; lose our energy and sex drive; and lose our youthful resilience to disease. A vicious cycle ensues. Abnormal hormonal responses also weaken our digestive capacity. Our liver, pancreas, gall bladder, stomach, and intestines decrease in function and we are less able to absorb the nutrients our body needs to restore our hormones to youthful levels. An overriding message at the conference was that hormone balance if vital.

The Longevity Life-style
A nine-year study completed at Stanford University found that most people who live past age 100 have several things in common. They sleep seven to eight hours a night, always eat breakfast, avoid smoking, and exercise regularly. Also
- They consume little or no alcohol. Moderate drinkingno more than two drinks per day with mealshelps prevent heart disease in older people. But if you’re younger than 45, the risk of alcohol-induced liver trouble or other illness outweighs the benefits to the heart. Anyone who has a history of liver damage should avoid alcohol.
- Avoid excessive weight gain or loss. Men should weigh no more than 20% over their ideal weight, women no more than 10% over their ideal weight.
- Eat sugary snacks infrequently, if at all. Sugary snacks cause blood sugar levels to fluctuate, and can contribute to blood sugar abnormalities.
- Natural Progesterone Protects Against Breast Cancer -
- Latest News From Anti-Aging Experts
- The protective action of natural progesterone on breast cells was demonstrated in an important study in 1995 by Dr. K.J. Chang. Results indicated that unopposed, estrogen increased cell proliferation by 230% whereas progesterone decreased it by more than 400%! Application of an estrogen/progesterone combination cream maintained the normal proliferation rate.
- Why is this significant? Excessive cell proliferation (hyperplasia) is a recognized signpost of potential cancer development. Most researchers and naturopathic doctors understand completely that estrogen, especially in the form of synthetics such as Premarin, is a promoter of breast cancer and that progesterone balances or opposes the undesirable side effects of estrogen. Many studies offer solid evidence that progesterone has an important role in preventing and treating breast cancer.
- NOTE: Please be aware that synthetic progestins such as Provera are not the same as natural progesterone.
In addition to counteracting the increased cell proliferation caused by estrogen, there are other mechanisms by which natural progesterone protects against breast cancer.
- A very significant study done by Dr. William Hrushesky in Albany, New York revealed that estrogen promotes delayed apoptosis. Apoptosis is the system our body has to destroy old cells. Normal cells are programmed to live for only a specified period of time and then die as new cells come to replace them. If old cells are not destroyed, it increases their risk of becoming cancer cells. Natural progesterone decreases delayed apoptosis.
- Thirdly, the metastasis or spread of cancer cells depends on the permeability of blood vessels which allow the cancer cells to pass through walls. Natural progesterone reduces blood vessel permeability and thus helps protect against cancer cell metastasis.
- A link has also been found between cancer and progesterone on the genetic level. Researchers B. Formby and T.S. Wiley grew cultures of cancer cells and then treated them with estrogens and progesterone. They found that the estrogen alone promoted cancer growth, but when progesterone was added, tumor suppressor genes were stimulated and the cancer growth was stopped.
More Important Evidence that Progesterone is Protective
A study done at John Hopkins showed that the breast cancer incidence was 5.4 times greater in women with low progesterone than in women who had good progesterone levels (regardless of age and history).
- The incidence of all kinds of neoplasms was 10-fold higher in women with low progesterone levels as compared to women with good progesterone levels.
- When breast cancer researcher, Dr. David Zada studied the estrogen and progesterone levels in breast tissue specimens taken from women who had undergone surgery for breast cancer he found that almost universally, they reveals estrogen dominance and deficiency in progesterone!
- More than 10 other studies demonstrated a better survival rate and longer disease-free period when women had a healthy progesterone level at the time of their breast surgery. One 20-year study showed that women with a high progesterone level at the time of their breast surgery had a significantly higher survival rate than those with a low progesterone level.
- Your doctor may not be aware that natural progesterone has these protective qualities. Certainly, mainstream medicine is becoming more knowledgeable about progesterone cream. One area of resistance is that many physicians measure progesterone levels with serum (blood), but this measures only protein-bound progesterone. When progesterone is absorbed transdermally, it is not protein-bound and travels in the blood on red blood cell membranes where it is loosely bound and readily bioavailable. Saliva hormone testing is the proper way to measure this non-protein-bound progesterone. Because many physicians use only blood tests, they are very apt to say that natural progesterone is "not working".
- The physicians we interviewed at the Anti-Aging Conference urged us to tell you not to give up on the conventional medical community. The evidence is too strong and too abundant to be ignored!

- Hormonal Secrets to Losing Weight
- According to Dr. Vincent Giampapa and Dr. Paul Yanick, Jr., two anti-aging experts, the principal goal of a diet should be to enhance hormone metabolism. Enhancing hormone activity and reception will make your diet more effective and lasting.
- When you eat hormone-enhancing foods you’ll be satisfying your hunger, which means it will actually be easier to lose weight while eating more food.
- Hormone-enhancing nutrients and foods can help you:
- Stimulate the release of fat-burning hormones
- Improve the efficiency of digestion
- Increase your energy levels
- Reduce cravings
- Suppress your appetite
- According to these experts, the body needs fuel to function optimally and lose weight. When the body runs out of slow-burning fuel, we gain weight. The rate of this energy depletion is dependent upon our diet. The more acidic our cells and tissues become, the faster we gain weight and the less hormones we produce. When we’re too acidic, we can’t digest fats efficiently. A lack of essential fatty acids creates deficiencies of hormones.
- Diminished hormone levels result in a decrease in the body’s ability to convert and store energy, the primary cause of weight-related problems. That is why the use of prohormone nutrition helps the body restore normal levels of hormones.
-
- What Can the Anti-Aging Diet Do?
- To be effective, hormone-enhancing nutrition must be packaged in a way that will reach all hormone-producing glands of the body.
When these nutrients reach endocrine glands they can accomplish the following:
- Accelerate cellular functions that are too slow and inefficient
- Help to renew old and depleted cells.
- Help to change nutrients into energy and hormones.
- Help to remove wastes and by-products of metabolism.
- Protect the cells from free radical damage and enhance immunity.
- Fine tune and energize hormone receptors.
- Provide the critical precursor compounds necessary for the body to produce melatonin, DHEA, hGH, and neurotransmitters.
- The anti-aging or hormone-enhancing diet accomplishes the following:
- It maintains acid balance, keeping our pH within optimal limits. Digestion, absorption, assimilation, and the utilization of nutrients improve as pH is brought into the normal range.
- It maintains a healthy pattern of detoxification in the body. When pH is optimal, many enzymes involved in the detoxification of environmental pollutants are able to excrete, rather than store toxins.
- It maintains HDL and LDL cholesterol at optimal levels.
- It maintains the body’s neurohormonal equilibrium by maintaining the balance between HGH and insulin, and glucagon, and DHEA and cortisol.
- It gives us the perfect balance of protein, fats and carbohydrates. Mother Nature has given us this perfect balance in the Superior Hormone-Enhancing Food Group. No calorie-counting or computations are necessary!
- It is designed to maintain and balance the body’s immune system. The result: a longer health span and optimal patterns of regeneration.
-
- Anti-Aging Tip:
- If you are over the age of 50, take a regular 325mg aspirin daily.
- In a long term study of 22,071 male physicians, taking aspirin reduced the incidence of heart attacks by 44%.
-
- EFA-Boosting Foods
EFAs are the building blocks to ecosanoid hormones. EFAs must come from the food we eat as we can’t synthesize them in our body. The most importantlinoleic acidis abundant in raw almonds, tofu, avocados, cashews, garbanzo beans, olive oil, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds.
- Monosaturated fats are the best fats to consume. Cold-pressed, extra virgin olive oil, sunflower seeds, macadamia nuts, almonds and cashews are excellent sources of these fats. Unlike saturated fats, these fats do not raise blood cholesterol or cause you to gain weight. They are powerful precursors to hormone activity and production in the body.
-
- Melatonin-Boosting Foods
The complex carbohydrates included in the hormone-enhancing diet program cause the body to produce more melatonin. The elevation of pH and enzyme activity may improve the way melatonin binds to receptors inside the cell, creating a better hormone balance.
- If you’re melatonin deficient, try to eat one or more of the following foods at your evening meal: whole oats, wild rice, ginger root and tomatoes.
- Tryptophan, an essential amino acid, is the molecule from which melatonin is derived. The pineal gland makes melatonin by converting tryptophan to serotonin and then to melatonin. Increasing the intake of tryptophan increases the production of melatonin. Good food sources of tryptophan are soy products, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and peanuts.
- Optimal aging and optimal health span requires the willingness to learn about healthy life-style changes. Once you accept responsibility for your health and make basic life-style changes, improved health and longevity can be a reality.
- We saw the results in many studies presented at the 6th International Anti-Aging conference. Aging can be de-accelerated!

- Ovarian Cysts & Natural Progesterone
Natural progesterone, given from day 5 to day 26 of the menstrual month for two or three cycles, will almost routinely cause disappearance of these cysts
- a. By suppressing normal FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone),
- b. By suppressing LH (luteinizing hormone)
- c. By suppressing estrogen production
- d. All the above gives the ovary time to heal.
Fibrocystic Breasts & Natural Progesterone Estrogen dominance in the body causes fibrocystic breasts!
- Dr. Lee states “restoring hormone balance with natural progesterone usually results in prompt clearing of the problem. When natural progesterone is used during the two weeks before the menses, fibrocystic breasts revert to normal within 2-3 months.” Also states Dr. Lee, “Using progesterone transdermally, from DAY 15 of the monthly cycle to DAY 26 will usually cause breast cysts to disappear.”
Severe Menstrual Cramps, Clotting and Natural Progesterone
Medical reports have stated that cramping starts when the adrenal gland has been drained of its cortisone reserve. Since progesterone is a precursor of cortisone, which is made by the adrenal glands if follows that by adding natural progesterone to our bodies we are supporting our adrenal glands.
- Many women have found progesterone to be a pain-relieving hormone. Progesterone helps alleviate cramping pain by assisting the adrenal glands to create cortisone.
- Some physicians now advise the “application of one-half teaspoon of the cream to the abdomen every 30 minutes until the cramping subsides.”
- Other women with a history of clotting have found that by administering progesterone cream over a period of months, they are able to resume a normal, even flow.
Endometriosis and Natural Progesterone Estrogen dominance is a contributing factor to endometriosis. Higher doses of natural progesterone help to normalize hormonal activity in the body. 40-60 mg daily of natural progesterone cream from DAY 5-28 of your menstrual cycle, or whenever your normal cycle ends often helps to alleviate this problem.
- Women with endometriosis should avoid birth control pills or anything else that creates a higher level of estrogen in the body.
Cancer & Natural Hormones
When a woman has had cancer, and hormone replacement is clearly indicated, many doctors prefer to recommend progesterone only, because it is clearly safer. Others will recommend estriol, (but not estrone or estradiol) along with progesterone. We recommend Progonol™, our natural phyto-progesterone or Osta B3™, our 100% Estriol product. See end of pamphlet for list of recommended products.

- Thyroid and the Diseases of Aging
- Thyroid deficiency can increase your risk of age-associated diseases. First, low levels may depress your metabolism, increasing weight gain and all the associated ills of obesity, including heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes. The risk of developing adult-onset diabetes is also increased, since normal levels of thyroid hormone are needed to regulate blood sugar. Low thyroid hormone can also greatly increase the risk of heart disease by raising the levels of cholesterol and triglycerides and may cause high blood pressure. Finally, compromised thyroid function may increase the risk of cancer, according to a number of studies.
Thyroid Hormone and Hypothyroidism
Do you feel like you lack energy, are weaker than you used to be, and moving more slowly? Your problem may not be aging, but lack of thyroid hormone (TH). Other symptoms include increased susceptibility to colds, viruses and respiratory ailments, heavy labored breathing, muscle cramps, persistent low back pain, bruising easily, mental sluggishness, emotional instability with crying jags, mood swings, temper tantrums, getting cold easily (particularly in the hands and feet), dry, coarse, leathery or pale skin, coarse hair and/or loss of hair, loss of appetite, stiff joints, and atherosclerosis.
- In general, TH does not fall with age the way that HGH and the other hormones do, but thyroid deficiency is widespread throughout the population. Estimates are that from 15 to 40% of the population suffers in some way from deficient thyroid function.
Self Test for Hypothyroidism
The Barnes Basal Temperature Test can help you determine if you are low in thyroid hormone.
- Shake down an oral thermometer and place it next to your bed before going to sleep.
- As soon as you awake, place the thermometer under your armpit and leave it there for 10 minutes before rising.
- Record the temperature. If it is below normal rising temperature (97.8 to 98.2 degrees F) for two consecutive days, you are very likely to be hypothyroid.
- Menstruating women should wait until after the first day of their period before taking the test.
- If you are low according to the Barnes Test, have your doctor do a TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) test.
- NOTE: While thyroid supplements may be available from health food stores, we advise that you do not treat yourself. Too much thyroid hormone can be just as bad for your health is causes palpitations. Hormones are serious medicine and their replacement should be done under the supervision of a physician.
- Dr. John R. Lee states that supplementation with natural progesterone helps many women restore normal thyroid function.

- Antioxidant Report
In a recent study that assessed the free radical scavenging abilities of grape seed extract (oligomeric proanthocyanidin, or OPC), Vitamin C and Vitamin E, grape seed extract proved to be the most potent free radical scavenger by far. It inhibited 78 to 81% of two particularly damaging types of free radicals, superoxide anion and hydroxyl radicals. Vitamin E inhibited them by 36 to 44%, and Vitamin C by 12 to 19%.
- OPCs, potent phytochemicals in grape seed, may provide the explanation for the remarkable fact that, though the French diet is rich in fatty foods, the incidence of heart disease in France is among the lowest of Western nations. OPCswhich are in red wine that the French drink with most mealsprotect against free radicals and the damaging effects of enzymes and cholesterol that can degrade vascular walls.

- Should Women Take Testosterone?
Women also make a small amount of testosterone, which is halved during menopause, Replacing testosterone along with estrogen and progesterone helps women with menopausal symptoms. Many women claim that adding some natural testosterone makes them feels sexier and more energetic.

- EFAs: Essential in Your Anti-Aging Regime!
- Essential Fatty Acids (or EFAs) support the production of anti-inflammatory prostaglandins, make and repair cell membranes, and strengthen immune cells. They also minimize auto-immune reactions. In chronic EFA depletion, the immune system is most affected. This can lead to cancer, arthritis, heart disease and accelerated aging.
- EFAs are made up of several components. However, we do not get enough alpha-linolenic acid and gamma-linolenic acid from our diets. Pro-inflammatory prostaglandins are made from arachidonic acid. These encourage healthy inflammation in order to heal infections and stop allergic reactions. Anti-inflammatory prostaglandins are made from GLA and alpha linolenic acid. These counter balance pro-inflammatory prostaglandins. Without balance, inflammation increases leading to arthritis and atherosclerosis. Allergic reactions also increase leading to asthma and severe debilitating allergies.
- EFAs are also essential for optimal cell membrane health. It is important to maintain cell membranes so as to minimize cellular damage. Cumulative cellular damage often indicates the age at which a person will die.
- EFAs contribute to healthy immune cells. These cells scavenge free radicals. Once damaged, immune cells may lose their ability to differentiate between free radicals and the body’s good cells. This can lead to auto immune diseases such as lupus, multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis.
- Vitamin E, which is an important membrane antioxidant, provides chain-breaking free radical protection. It may be especially important to include Vitamin E with routine EFA supplementation since they are readily oxidized. It has been suggested that long-term fish oil supplementation, for example, may increase lipid peroxidation and compromise Vitamin E status. Additionally, some animal studies indicate that a deficiency in Vitamin E may lead to a significant increase in arachidonic acid metabolites.

- Aloe Vera Stimulates Immune Response Against Cancer!
-
- Aloe may help prolong survival time and stimulate the immune systems of cancer patients, according to recent research. In a 1994 study published in Japan, mice with cancerous tumors were given aloe orally for 14 days. While the aloe did not suppress tumor growth, the average life span of the mice was prolonged by 22% for those given 50 mg aloe/kg body weight and by 32% for those given 100 mg/kg daily. A simultaneous experiment on human cancer cells (out side the body) found that high doses of aloe significantly suppressed the growth of these cancer cells. Researchers writing in Cancer Immunolgy and Immunotherapy found that a compound (lectin) from aloe, when injected directly into tumors, activated the immune system to attack the cancer. Killer T cells, white blood cells that bind to invading cells and destroy them, began to attack tumor cells injected with lectin. Aloe turns on the immune system by activating macrophages (white blood cells which “swallow” antigens), causing the release of immule-activating (and anticancer) substances such as interferons, interleukines, and tumor necrosis factor. In addition, aloe promotes the growth of normal (non-cancerous) cells, researchers said. Researchers stated that “aloe is widely preventative or suppressive against various human cancers.”

- Experts Agree on the Importance of Flaxseed
- One of flaxseed’s most potent components is alpha linolenic acid, an omega 3 fatty acid that is deficient in many people’s diets. According to Anti-Aging experts, flaxseed has been found to be valuable in a wide range of conditions, including the following:
- Lupus: Lupus is a seriously debilitating inflammatory condition similar to arthritis; young adult women are particularly susceptible to this illness. A study in the journal Kidney International showed that lupus patients consuming 15 to 45 grams of flaxseed daily for four weeks had improved kidney function, helping to clear their blood of toxins more readily.
- Heart Disease: Hypercholesterolemic atherosclerosis, or the deterioration of blood vessels due to excessively high cholesterol levels, can lead to heart disease if left untreated. According to a 1997 study in the journal Atherosclerosis, modest amounts of a dietary flax supplement reduced cholesterol.
- Two of the risk factors for heart disease are high blood sugar and high fat content, and flax fiber has the power to reduce both. Fiber regulates our blood sugar by slowing our body’s absorption of carbohydrates.
- Cancer: One study, in the journal Carcinogenesis, found that recurrent mammary tumors in women with breast cancer were reduced by 50 percent when flaxseed was administered to patients for 18 weeks. Flaxseed’s tumor-reducing factor may be due in part to its high content mf alpha linoleic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid.
- Fiber is particularly effective in preventing colon cancer since it allows waste to be expelled with shorter transit time, which means there’s less time for the carcinogens in our fecal matter to come in contact with our colons. It also makes our stool bulkier, diluting the concentration of carcinogens.
- Constipation: Constipation can also lead to bowel obstruction and a variety of symptoms such as fatigue, achiness and irritability. The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reported that subjects in a study who took 50 grams of flaxseed daily for 4 weeks increased their bowel movements by 30 percent each week.
- Immune System Dysfunction: Studies show that flax enhances our immune response, inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory compounds. Essential fatty acids are crucial to healing the body and soothing the inflammation associated with diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and diabetes.
- When Good Fats Fall Short
A deficiency of the good fatsthe essential fatty acids (EFAs)can affect your body in many ways. Consider the following list of health problems, each of which can be caused or aggravated by a shortage of EFAs.
- • Acne
- • Allergies
- • Arteriosclerosis
- • Arthritis
- • Asthma
- • Autoimmune disease
- • Cancer
- • Diabetes
- • Diarrhea
- • Dry hair
- • Eczema
- • Fibrocystic breast disease
- • Gallstones
- • Hair loss
- • Heart attack
- • High blood pressure
- • High cholesterol
- • Inflammatory disorders
- • Kidney failure
- • Multiple sclerosis
- • Obesity
- • Poor wound healing
- • Premenstrual syndrome
- • Reproductive failure
- • Stroke
- • Varicose veins

- Advice from Dr. Pensanti:
Flaxseed oil helps the lymph system to work at its optimum condition. The lymph system detoxifies the body. It will not work without oil. ALL cancer patients should take flaxseed oil daily. Mix 1 tablespoon flaxseed oil in 1/4 cup lowfat cottage cheese.

-
Recommendations of Anti-Aging Experts
Take a good formula, which preferably contains all 3 fatty acids (Omega 3- 6-9) together as they are found to work best in conjunction with each other. Flaxseed oil and borage oil are the two best sources. Flaxseed oil may be taken separately as 1 Tablespoon of liquid daily, or 1 to 5-1000 mg capsules daily, especially in anyone who has cancer.
- No deficiency? Experts still recommend supplementation to: Increase energy and stamina; Decrease blood pressure; Decrease cholesterol; Increase resistance to allergies, infections and illness.
-
- Human Growth Hormone (HGH): Anti-Aging Agent
- HGH is one of many endocrine hormones like estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, melatonin and DHEA, that all decline in production with age. While many of these hormones can be replaced to deter some of the effects of aging, HGH reaches far beyond the scope of any of these hormones. Not only does it prevent biological aging, but it acts to significantly reverse a broad range of the signs and symptoms associated with the aging process.
- Ample from our youth, production of HGH falls 80% from age 21 to 61. Daily growth hormone secretion diminishes with age to the extent that a 60 year old may secrete only 25% of the HGH secreted by a 20 year old.
- Symptoms of HGH deficiency include loss of muscle and increase of fat, decreased physical mobility, socialization and energy level, diminished healing ability, wrinkled or sagging skin, decreased sexual function, decreased vision, and poor memory. In other words, the symptoms of the disease called aging.

- HGH Therapy & Psychological Well-Being of the Aging Adult
- Dr. Daniel Rudman published his clinical findings on the effects of anti-aging and HGH in the New England Journal of Medicine . The results were startling to say the least.
- The initial observed results: Six months of injections reversed the aging process for 10 to 20 years in the patients who received HGH. In the controlled group that didn’t receive HGH, the normal aging process continued.
- Since Dr. Rudman’s initial findings, thousands of additional studies have supported the fact that HGH can and does not only retard aging, but also reverses the process as well by:
- Restoring muscle mass
- Decreasing body fats
- Thickening skin
- Reducing Wrinkles
- Restoring lost hair
- Restoring hair color
- Increasing sexual function
- Increasing energy
- Improving cholesterol profile
- Improving vision
- Improving memory

- Alzheimers Update
A study published in the Archives of Neurology found a link between high levels of homocysteine and Alzheimer’s disease. The study compared 164 patients with Alzheimer’s disease to 108 people at the same age without the disease. Those with the highest level of homocysteine were 4.5 times more likely to have Alzheimer’s than those with the lowest level. Further proof of this connection: people with the lowest levels of the two nutrients that reduce homocysteinefolic acid and Vitamin B12were 3 to 4 times more likely to have Alzheimer’s than those with the highest levels.
- “Everyone over the age of 40 should add to their supplements. B-6, B-12 and folic acid.”

- Olive Leaf ExtractBreakthrough Herbal Remedy
Promotes Health by Aiding and Energizing the Immune System
- The olive leaf has the special biblical distinction of being the first herb named after the flood:
- And the dove came in to him in the evening; and lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off; so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.
How Does Olive Leaf Extract Work in the Body?
Olive leaf extract promotes healing by aiding and energizing the immune system. Scientific discoveries have shown calcium elenolate (an active part of olive leaf extract) works in several ways. Olive leaf extract has the ability to:
- • Powerfully strengthen the immune system
- • Normalize blood pressure in animals
- • Help inhibit oxidation of low-density lipids (bad cholesterol)
- • Help prevent intestinal muscle spasms
- • Neutralize the production of reverse transcriptase as well as protease
- • Inactivate harmful microorganisms by dissolving their outer lining
- • Act effectively at low concentrations without any harmful influence on host cell mechanisms
- • Be extremely-safe and non-toxic, even at high amounts
Interference with Amino Acid Processes
By interfering with the amino acid processes of pathogens, olive leaf extract prevents it from reproducing and creating more microbes within the body. Studies even suggest that calcium elenolate can enter infected cells in the body and stop viral cells from replicating.
Prevention of Virus Shedding
Virus shedding is the means by which viruses reproduce. R-Calcium elenolate attaches to the cell membrane to stop viruses from multiplying and spreading. In the case of retroviruses, R-calcium elenolate neutralizes the production of reverse transcriptase and protease. These enzymes are essential for a retrovirus, to alter the RNA of a healthy cell. Without them, the retrovirus is rendered impotent.
Olive Leaf Extract Strengthens Immunity
A new series of testing with olive leaf extract shows that it empowers the immune system. Nothing in the extract can change or fix damaged cells in the body. By attacking microbes and directly strengthening the body’s immune system, olive leaf extract enables the immune system to better protect and help restore health.
- It is important to realize that when taken in recommended amounts, one 500 mg capsule once or twice a day, one may not notice an overnight improvement. When in a state of weakened or compromised immunity more may be required. In some cases of serious immune system problems, two or three months of regular ingestion are required before significant improvements in the immune system are realized. During 1993 testing of the liquid form of the product against herpes virus, there were no observed or reported side effects. In fact, research indicates amounts many times higher than that recommended is unlikely to produce toxic or other adverse side effects.
Indications of a Weakened Immune System
- Allergies
- Bowel problems
- Enlarged lymph nodes
- Joint swelling and pain
- Lack of appetite
- Nasal congestion
- Respiratory problems
- Skin rashes and sores
- Sleeplessness
- Susceptibility to contagious health problems
- Weakness
- Olive leaf extract does not cure disease. It is important to remember that pathogens are not the disease. Neither are symptoms the disease. Disease occurs as pathogens or other harmful substances damage glands, organs or tissues of the body.
- If medical examination fails to find the reason for a particular condition, there may be a yeast overgrowth and/or parasitic activity.
- Olive leaf extract also contains flavonoids, esters and multiple iridoids that create a structurally-complex molecule. It appears that harmful microorganisms cannot readily develop a resistance to olive leaf extract’s complex structure.
Olive Leaf Extract Can Increase Energy
Olive leaf extract produces substantial energy increases in most people that use it. It is not at all uncommon to hear people state that they have more energy than they have had for years.
- During clinical use by a doctor in southern California, patients stated that Olive leaf extract solved their tiredness and fatigue problems. Many choose to continue with Olive Leaf Extract, even after their condition of ill health are gone. Healthy people without any noticeable health problems who take it say they also feel this infusion of energy.
- Health for the Heart and Cardiovascular System
- Petoni and Blasevich at the Institute of Pharmacological Studies, University of Milan, found that olive oil reduced blood platelet aggregation. This could potentially result in lessened risk of heart problems.
- Petroni and Blasevich’s partners at the University of Milan, F. Visioli and C. Galli, paved the way in their 1994 study which showed that olive leaf derivatives are good antioxidants. Thus, they proposed that this is a new link between the Mediterranean diet and the prevention of serious heart problems.
- V. Petkov, working on his research in Europe and writing for peer-review journals in the United States, also found uses for olive leaf in nutritionally maintaining healthy cardiovascular systems and helping other heart problems.
- Perez-Jimenez and Espino, in their 1995 article in the "American Journal of Clinical Nutrition", demonstrated that a diet rich in olive oil increased the high-density lipids, or good cholesterol, by 7%.
- A 1994 experiment at the University of Milan’s Institute of Pharmacological Sciences found that olive leaf inhibited oxidation of low-density lipoproteins.
- A subsequent study in 1995 at the same institution linked olive leaf to the reduction or delaying of problems in the heart.
Olive Leaf Extract Can Maintain Proper Blood Pressure
Olive leaf extract has also been studied for its ability to normalize blood pressure. Riaeiro and Fiuza reported findings of their study in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology. They studied thirty-two medicinal plants, and verified that olea europaea, olive leaf, produced a beneficial effect.
- These findings were confirmed by A. Zarzuelo and J. Duarte, researchers in the Pharmacology Department at the University of Granada, Spain, who studied olive leaf extract.
- A recent study of olive leaf to determine its blood pressure normalizing capabilities was undertaken in 1996 by a large team of researchers in Belgium. They tested thirty patients who were suffering from high blood pressure. After three months on olive leaf extract, quoting the researchers, “We note for all patients a statistically significant decrease of blood pressure.”
- Additionally, they noted that they did not find any side effects from the olive leaf extract occurring in the patients in this study.
- As demonstrated here, olive leaf extract is a powerful antioxidant much like flavonoids and proanthocyanidins. These very compounds protect the heart and cardiovascular system from free radical-induced damage, and promote powerful good health in the user.

- The Scientific Breakthrough Role of Vitamin C in Reversing Aging of the Skin
-
- University of California, San Diego Study
- Studies suggest that serums containing highly concentrated doses of Vitamin C can effectively stimulate collagen and elastin tissues in the dermis layer of the skin. The skin appeared smoother and plumper, reducing the visibility of wrinkles and sagging. In addition, researchers at the University of California, San Diego reported that 50% of the people who used the product around their eyes noticed significant reductions in crow’s feet after 10 weeks. These Vitamin C products are probably best for wrinkling, particularly around the eyes, and for people whose skin may be too sensitive to respond to other acid products.
