"Symptoms of low thyroid"

  • Fatigue, especially in the a.m. when blood circulation is slower.
  • Depression
  • Cold hands, feet - may be slightly bluish
  • Slow thinking
  • Dry Skin
  • Puffy eyes/face in a.m.
  • Diffuse hair loss, thinning of hair
  • Dry hair
  • Long time hypothyroidism (from puberty onward):
  • Strong trunk & body, smaller arms & legs

Low Thyroid Treatment:

Thryoid Treatment Differs from person to person. Usually supplementation with melatonin and growth hormone will help as these are usually not optimal in an aging person.

Small doses of melatonin at night will help you wake up fresher because it activates thyroid function T3 & T4 are important, especially T3 in an older person. The trace elements of selenium, iodine, iron and zinc help transform T4 into T3.

If you have low adrenal function, you need to treat this first or you will not react well to the T3 and T4.

Transdermal Progesterone will often help promote thyroid hormone function. I like to balance this with estrogen.

There is really nothing available for thyroid supplementation that does not require a prescription. You should ask your doctor for Armour which supplies both T3 and T4 in approximately the ratio made by the human body.

ANDROGEN REPLACEMENT THERAPY

Every 4 seconds a man loses 1 testosterone producing cell and it is not replaced.

Dhea and Testosterone are androgen replacement hormones. Androgens "toughen" the heart and help it to pump better.

In women, testosterone levels are at their peak from age 21 to 35. At age 40 a woman has only 50% of the Testosterone that she had at age 21. Natural testosterone supplementation will help bring back youthful levels. However, testosterone should not be supplemented without also supplementing with the female hormones.

If you notice hair growth with testosterone supplementation, stop for 2-3 weeks, then resume at a lower dose.

HAIR LOSS

If you lose your male hormone, you will lose hair on your head.

If you lose your female hormone, you will grow hair on your body.

Hair loss on the head of a female indicates low estrogen.

Diffuse hair loss everywhere indicates low thyroid

Hair growth everywhere indicates a need for estrogen. The use of transdermal estrogen and progesterone is good for this.

Hair growth on a woman's face: Adrenals may be making too much male hormone and not enough cortisol. Give supplemental cortisol which lowers the male hormone.

Results of hormone supplementation for hair growth / hair loss may take 5 months or more.

ANTI-AGING ADVICE:

  1. Diet: Include protein (broiled fish & meat). No milk products, even yogurt.
    Include natural, unprocessed foods.
  2. Supplement your diet with vitamins
  3. Take natural hormones: Hormones are 10 times more powerful than vitamins!
