Healthy Living Tip for Sinus Problems

Sinus Problems

How sinus problems can make your life a living hell

Over 40 million Americans suffer from chronic sinus problems. Common prescription and over-the-counter drugs to address this problem include Claritin, Flonase, Sudafed, and many others. Drugs try to slow down the flow of mucus (anti-secretory), kill the bacteria (antibiotics), or shut down the swelling (anti-inflammatory). While each strategy gives some people temporary relief, none of these drug approaches deals with the underlying problem:

The real problem with Sinus issues is usually a fungal infection.

In a study conducted at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota in 1998 and published in the Mayo Clinic Proceedings (vol.74, p.877, 1999), Dr. Jens Ponikau and colleagues found that 96% of the 212 chronic sinusitis patients assessed were actually suffering from a fungal infection in the sinuses, not bacterial infection, as had been assumed for the past 50 years by medical experts.. The reason this research group found the fungi that had not been found by previous studies is because the Mayo Clinic group used a new and very sensitive means of determining microorganisms causing infections, known as polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The difference in accuracy between culture plates (commonly used) and PCR is like the difference between binoculars and a telescope. Fungi are one of the most common forms of life on earth.

Fungi (a.k.a. yeast, rust, mold, mildew, mushrooms) are the "undertaker and the ecologist" of life. Their job is to decay all forms of life back to the basic elements. Nothing can stop the fungi from doing their job except "host defense mechanisms", meaning "how healthy are you?" Most patients with end-stage cancer and AIDS end up with serious fungal infections. Many other people probably suffer from fungal infections that are undiagnosed. According to several good studies, 50% of the people with systemic fungal infections do not have an immune compromised status, like cancer, AIDS, steroids, or such. That means that the remaining 50% of people with deep mycosis were relatively healthy people who developed these life-threatening fungal infections. According to A.V. Costantini, MD, former head of the World Health Organization, fungal infections and fungal toxins in the food supply may cause the majority of degenerative diseases in western society.

Fungi grow best where it is dark, warm, wet, stagnant, and there is a sugar fuel. That describes the sinuses perfectly. Fungi set up camp in the sinuses, live on the mucus (which is a sugar, mucopolysaccharide), rapidly reproduce, create substances that shut down the immune system (to make it harder to get rid of them), then make substances that cause the mucus membranes to become permeable to everything else (such as pollen, dust, dander, debris). These by-products from fungi can turn our sinuses into a screen door that lets all kinds of stuff into the bloodstream, which then precipitates the "hell" of allergy season. Then the sinus region really becomes inflamed as the immune system begins to attack this endless stream of small things flowing into the bloodstream.

The immune system gobbles these invaders up as if they were an infecting organism, like a bacteria. This battle leads to histamine release, swelling, and irritation. SinusCleanser deals with the underlying cause, rather than just subduing the symptoms of sinus problems. By washing away the fungi that are creating the problem in the sinuses, SinusCleanser begins to lower the "mold load" in the sinuses. Relief can be felt

within hours. Serious improvement in your condition within days. Sleeping, snoring, apnea, asthma, tonsillitis, colds, and other breathing problems all can improve simply by flushing out the fungi that invade the sinuses.

SinusCleanser is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. This information has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.

Early biologists categorized all of life as either plant or animal. Then they discovered fungi, which sometimes look like tiny mushrooms under a microscope. Fungi neither move for their food, like animals, nor do they gather energy from the sun, like plants.

Fungi generate an amazing array of enzymes to dissolve dead or dying plant and animal material. Fungi digest the fallen leaves in your backyard, the dead animal on the highway, and much more. Fungi generate so many spores that they make bacteria and rabbits look infertile in comparison. Fungi that cause smut on corn can generate 25 billion spores per ear of corn. Fungi that decay dead wood (Ganoderma applanatum) can generate 5.4 trillion spores per season (6 months) per dead tree. All of these fungal spores are flying through the air with the greatest of ease for you to breathe into your sinuses.

In one study, Professor Christensen used a specially colored fungus that was not found in this particular area. He merely took off the lid of the fungus culture dish on the first floor of a building and within 5 minutes the fungal spores moved through the office building ventilation system and were found on the fourth floor in the density of thousands of spores per square yard. Fungal spores have been collected in the air north of the Arctic Circle, thousands of miles from their source. (Hudler, GW, MAGICAL MUSHROOMS, MISCHIEVOUS MOLDS, p.27, Princeton University Press, 1998). The point is, fungi are plentiful and everywhere. Though we cannot escape them, we can cleanse them from our sinuses and reduce the discomfort they can cause.

There are over 400,000 species of fungi on earth, of which 400 different species can cause diseases in humans. According to the prestigious textbook on fungi, PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES OF CLINICAL MYCOLOGY, "The majority of exogenous fungi causing serious invasive disease are acquired by inhalation. Large number of spores of the pathogenic fungi may be released into the air in dusty conditions, which are associated with increased incidence of infection." (p.16) In other words, those pesky fungi that are causing itchy swollen eyes, headache, and sinus congestion can also be causing much more damage in the body. Common fungal infections in humans include: Aspergillosis, Blastomycosis, Candidiasis, Chromomycosis, Coccidioidomycosis, Cryptococcosis, Histoplasmosis, Sporotrichosis, and Zygomycosis. Dandruff, athlete¹s foot, vulvovaginitis, thrush (white coating on tongue), eczema, psoriasis, toenail fungus, and ring worm are all common fungal infections that occur in Americans on the surface. All the more reason to use SinusCleanser to flush out the fungi on a daily basis. You probably take a shower once a day to clean the outside of your body. Why not

cleanse your sinuses on a daily basis with SinusCleanser to keep the mold load in your sinuses and your body at a manageable level.

SICK BUILDINGS AND STACHYBOTRIS. According to a Government Accounting Office report, 20% of the 80,000 schools in the U.S. have indoor air quality problems, most of which centers around mold (fungi). Fungi grow best in an environment that is dark, warm,

wet, stagnant, and has some sugar to grow on. This set of conditions is found in almost every school in America throughout the summer, with books, drywall, and wood being food for the common mold, Stachybotrys. The mold spores from Stachybotrys are inhaled and become extremely toxic to the nervous system, causing debilitation that looks like Parkinson¹s disease, or may simulate Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. A common sequence of events is that children go back to school in the fall, after the school has been locked up throughout the hottest part of the year, and the child begins to have bloody noses, or asthma, or behavioral disorders. These health problems may be caused by mold in the schools, especially if there is any standing water source, such as a leaky roof.

SinusCleanser can help these people, too. Although the real answer with Stachybotrys is shut down the source of water and then complete removal of the infected wood, books, drywall, and other materials where this nasty persistent black mold grows.

Some areas of the world have more fungi (mold) in the air than others. The greater the humidity, the higher the temperature, the more plant life surrounding you, and the further from the sea; all create mold levels that can overwhelm even a healthy system. Mold grow poorly in higher elevations above one mile (5280 feet), which is why more people in Tulsa, Oklahoma have sinus problems than Aspen, Colorado. Mold grow slowly in colder climates, but quite well in the stagnant environment of indoor central heating. Don¹t think you can run to where it is dry for complete relief.

There are mold that are native to the desert regions of the southwest U.S., such as cocciodioides, also known as "Valley Fever". Other mold that is common in bird droppings, cryptococcosis, can infect people who work around bird dung. Since much of the population explosion in the U.S. has occurred in the sunbelt, there are over 100 million Americans who live where the mold count outdoors for much of the year can cause symptoms of sinusitis.

What you are trying to do with SinusCleanser is create the same effect as flushing out your sinuses while swimming in the ocean. You want the SinusCleanser to penetrate deeply into the sinus cavities, which extend above the eyebrows and sideways below the eyes.

One customer, Dr. Bette Johnson, discovered a simple and effective technique for using the Sinus Cleanser. Lay flat on your back (on a bed, couch, or the floor) with your head tilted back. Insert the Sinus Cleanser bottle into your nostril opening. Slowly squeeze the Sinus Cleanser bottle into the open sinuses while sniffing to bring the solution up into your sinus passages. Apply the Sinus Cleanser to the other nostril. Close off your nose with your thumb and forefinger. Keep the Sinus Cleanser solution in the nose for 30 to 60 seconds, if possible, before getting up to expel the ingredients into the sink. Repeat this cleansing procedure if you are having considerable sinus congestion. Once again, since there will be drainage after this cleansing, it is best to do this procedure before getting into the shower.

Another technique is to bend your head over the sink, squeeze the Sinus Cleanser bottle up into the sinus passages, making sure that you do not get the solution into the lungs. Hold the solution in the sinuses for a few seconds, then expel and gently blow your nose. If symptoms of sinus congestion are severe, then do this cleansing morning and evening until symptoms subside. Once you get your symptoms under control, use the SinusCleanser once daily before getting into the shower.
